Some users may be seeing the wrong video above. We are working on resolving the issue.
After we'd seen a woman fall into water fountain and a man nearly walk into a bear thanks to some distracting cellphone usage, I truly thought things couldn't get worse. But then a video appeared online?showing a man stumbling right off a train platform while focused on his phone.
The video shows the?incident Jan. 25, 2011, on an elevated platform on the Market-Frankford Line in Philadelphia,?Pennsylvania.?Heather Redfern, a spokesperson for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, tells NBC News that the clip is only surfacing now because it happened to be mentioned during an interview conducted by the Associated Press,?about distractions which endanger pedestrians.
There aren't many details about the incident. After the man fell onto the train tracks, he recovered after a couple of moments and climbed back onto the platform. Luckily, no train arrived in the meantime. The man is believed to have sustained only some minor injuries.?No word regarding how his cellphone fared.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to run up and down the office stairs while tapping out a couple of emails on my iPhone.
